One Step Forward for NOSEY!

Yesterday the news broke that the USDA is initiating a proceeding to terminate Hugo Liebel's federal exhibitor license. Without this license, Liebel would no longer be allowed to force Nosey to perform in second-rate circuses or provoke her to give rides in parking lots. He is losing his battle to regain custody of Nosey at every turn. CWI has been fighting for Nosey for five years, and during that time has completed several investigations (like this one) that have led to complaints filed with the USDA on her behalf for violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act. USDA Complaint Filed on Behalf of Tracy and Lisa

On July 31, CWI filed an emergency complaint with the USDA on behalf of elephants Lisa and Tracy for violations of the Animal Welfare Act. After extensive review of the footage CWI captured on July 13 at Circus World, our experts determined that elephants Lisa and Tracy were both exhibiting signs that they are significantly compromised on their right sides, including knee and hip, as well as wrist and elbow. There also appears to be limited range of motion in both of their right shoulders. Walking, or at least giving rides, is demonstrably painful to both Lisa and Tracy.
