At any given time, in shelters throughout our Valley, there are typically more than 100 homeless guinea pigs. Meanwhile, Petco, Petsmart, and numerous "mom and pop" pet stores continue to sell guinea pigs for low prices and without making consumers aware of the great expense and time involved in guinea pig care. They do this in the hope of securing a long-term business in guinea pig food and bedding items.

The result? Guinea pigs dumped in the desert, in trash compactors, and in parks. Guinea pigs finding themselves unwanted and unloved after people tire of their daily upkeep - most of these guinea pigs are under 1 year old. Weekly pleas from guinea pig owners to take their animals and all their belongings for free, while reptile owners sit in wait to feed these animals to their snakes.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

We endeavor to ban guinea pig sales throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Unfortunately, this involves the need to create or change laws in four different regions: City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Unincorporated Clark County. If you are unclear as to which area you live in, please click here for an interactive map. (And if this is all new to you, click here for more information about the differences between the City of Las Vegas and Unincorporated Clark County.)

KINDLY DO NOT FILL OUT THIS FORM UNLESS YOU ARE A LEGAL RESIDENT OF ONE OF THE FOUR JURISDICTIONS IN THE LAS VEGAS VALLEY - THANK YOU.
