Today CWI has launched a new campaign to save Minnie, a beautiful, lonely elephant held captive by Commerford & Sons in Goshen, Connecticut.
Minnie has been alone since 2019 when her companions Beulah and Karen both died while in Commerford's "care".
She now inhabits a dismal barn awaiting the day when she is forced once again to give rides or pose for photo opps at events like The Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

It has now been over FIVE YEARS since Beulah and Karen, Minnie’s elephant companions, passed away. Without the necessary companionship of other elephants, and despite what might be your best intentions for Minnie’s care, she is undoubtedly suffering! Especially as she ages, her biological, physical, and psychological needs cannot be met at your facility, as I really hope you can recognize.
Minnie has the WONDERFUL opportunity to live out the remainder of her life in an environment that will finally allow her to roam freely, develop healthy social relationships with other elephants, engage in innate and necessary behaviors in an appropriate climate, and receive the best veterinary care possible for elephants!
