Big news from Mexico

Amazingly, Mexico announced last week that they will be banning the following:

  • dolphin, seal, and sea lion shows for the sake of entertainment,

  • dolphins being kept in concrete tanks (will need to be relocated to sea pens or shipped out of Mexico altogether),

  • dolphin breeding.

We are unsure what this will mean for the many "Swim with Dolphins" facilities in Mexico that already use "sea pens," and if they will try to continue operations under the guise of educational purposes. Likewise, we worry if the law's wording is not strict or specific enough that dolphins will continue to be bred under the guise of "conservation."

Dolphins are NOT entertainment under any circumstances, and dolphin captivity/breeding is NOT conservation. We will continue to monitor this situation and update you when we learn more!
