10/7/26 - Okha Deserves Retirement: Tell Her Owner It’s Time

At 56, Okha is still being transported to circus performances when she should be enjoying retirement. CompassionWorks International’s new action asks her owner, Brian Franzen, to permanently end her use in performances, rides, travel, and other commercial exhibition—and place her at an accredited elephant sanctuary.
Okha has spent decades in the circus. Since her companions Kosti and Megue were relocated in 2022, she has been kept without other elephants while continuing to perform. CWI has documented her use in shows and rides, including footage from May 2026. Her remaining years should offer companionship, appropriate care, and the freedom to live without being made to entertain.
Franzen has the power to change her future. Our new letter asks him to publicly commit to sanctuary retirement, and CWI is ready to assist with her placement. Please add your voice and share the action with others who want to see Okha’s circus life finally end.
