An update on elephants Betty & Janice

As we alerted before the holidays, CWI has seen no evidence thus far that elephants Betty and Janice will be returning to the road with Carden International Circus this year. Carden has performed six times in four states since January. Betty and Janice have not appeared at any show.
If this situation holds, it would mark a massive turning point in the fight against circus cruelty. However, to be clear, Carden continues to use animals at their shows including camels, bison, and other species. CWI opposes the use of any animals in traveling circuses and encourages ongoing action against the Carden Circus until no animals are forced to perform or give rides.
Please stay tuned as we continue to monitor this situation. Unlike some circuses, Carden owns--not rents--Betty and Janice along with two other elephants, so the circus has the ability to change course at any time. We will also provide an update on the whereabouts of Betty and Janice in the near future and suggest actions you can take to make sure that all four Carden elephants end up where they belong: in sanctuary.
