At 56 years old, Okha should be living in peace—free from trucks, circus rings, and the demands of performing for crowds. Instead, she is still being hauled from city to city and forced to perform for Loomis Bros. Circus.
Okha is not the only elderly animal being denied the retirement she deserves. Tasha, an approximately 18-year-old Sumatran tiger, is also transported from venue to venue and displayed as part of a traveling tiger act. Rather than being allowed stability and peace in her later years, she remains confined to a life on the road.
CWI has documented Okha struggling to complete routines that her aging body can no longer comfortably perform. Yet Loomis Bros. continues to use her—and other aging wild animals—as props for fairground entertainment.
Venues must stop enabling this exploitation
Loomis Bros. is scheduled to perform at T. Ed Garrison Arena at Clemson University in South Carolina and at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds in Georgia. By hosting this circus, these venues are choosing to support the continued exploitation of elderly wild animals.
This is not family entertainment. Okha and Tasha have already spent their lives being transported, confined, and displayed. They deserve peace in their later years—not another season of circus abuse.
Please urge both venues to cancel Loomis Bros. Circus and stop hosting performances that use wild animals.
