Chicago Bans Horse Carriages!

CWI congratulates animal advocate Jodie Wiederkehr and all of the individuals associated with Chicago Alliance for Animals on their tremendous success in ending the use of horse carriages in Chicago.

This hard-won victory came after many years of effort by Jodie, who demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and tenacity. She smartly engaged activists on a near-daily basis and reached out to numerous animal rights organizations, including CompassionWorks International. We gladly lent our name to her petitions and sent letters when requested to city officials.

It takes a village to make change for animals, but it also takes an exceptional and dedicated organizer at the top making the appropriate strategic decisions. Thank you, and congratulations, Jodie!
